Southeast Georgia Health System has an opportunity for a Registered Polysomnographer to join our Sleep Management Center team!

Summary: Records, monitors and manages patients’ safety during all sleep studies. Performs polysomnographic recordings, scores studies, and performs some respiratory therapy and nursing functions. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, and adhere to all state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission requirements, and national patient safety standards..

The Registered Polysomnographer performs the following essential responsibilities:

*

Conducts diagnostic and therapeutic attended polysomnographic studies with multiple sensors.

*

Scores polysomnographic studies.

*

Educates patients, caregivers, and physicians in fundamentals of sleep medicine, diagnosis procedure and treatment options.

*

Sets up and administers CPAP or BIPAP, as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with standards set forth in the clinical practice guidelines.

*

Possesses and demonstrates basic technical knowledge of polysomnographic procedures published by ASDA and APT, operating and maintaining laboratory monitoring equipment, and CPAP/BIPAP.

*

Documents all records in a complete fashion, including all pertinent patient data.

*

Complies with Time and Attendance in accordance with Health System policy.

The ideal Registered Polysomnographer candidate will posses the following minimal qualifications:

*

Registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, National Board of Respiratory Care or American Board of Sleep Medicine

*

Previous experience preferred

*

Skills as defined by clinical practice guidelines in sleep medicine
