Southeast Georgia Health System has an opportunity for a SPD Technician to join our Central Sterile team!

Summary: Provides a variety of indirect patient related services. Including but not limited to preparing and assembling medical and surgical supplies, instrumentation, and equipment, maintaining the sterile processing areas, and receiving and distributing surgical supplies and equipment to areas within the facility. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies and adhere to all state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission requirements, and national patient safety standards.

The SPD Technician will perform the following essential responsibilities:

* Oversees the orientation of new team members.
* Responsible for coordinating all activities related to sterilization, decontamination, and disinfection for assigned shift.
* Acts as a liaison between Central Services and other hospital departments to ensure availability of instrumentation and equipment as needed for patient care.
* Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
* Plans staff assignments for the shift based on Surgery and other procedure area volumes.
* Works in conjunction with the management team to ensure staffing matches workload and that labor standards are achieved.
* Monitors and keeps accurate records of all sterilizer loads.
* Maintains competency by attending continuing education seminars related to Central Service issues and attending in-services on new equipment and instrumentation in the department.

The ideal SPD Technician will possess the following minimum qualifications:

* High school graduate or equivalent required
* 1 year of sterile processing, supply chain, materials management and or completion of a Surgical Technician program preferred.
* None required. Central Supply Processing Department Technician (CSPDT), or Certified Registered Central Services Technician (CRCST) certification, or Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) or Certified Surgical Technician (CST) preferred.
* Basic computer skills: data entry, calculation, Microsoft Word and Outlook. Demonstrates patient confidentiality and positive guest relations with all internal and external customers.
