Southeast Georgia Health System has an opportunity for a Monitor Technician to join our Monitor Bank team!

Summary: Responsible for, interpreting, and reporting all cardiac rhythms displayed on monitors. May perform other related clerical duties. Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work area. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, adheres to all state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission requirements, and national patient safety standards.

* Maintains ongoing high-level surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provide RN/ Clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. Distinguishes between non-threatening and lethal arrhythmias.
* Documents arrhythmias as required.Continuously watches and ensures appropriate and timely responses to alarms.
* Performs clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information at the central monitor bank.
* Obtains admission/on-going rhythm strips and places on patient�s medical record per unit protocol in timely manner.
* Answers phone and communicates effectively when receiving and delivering information between units and clinicians.
* Is consistently proactive and assists in care and maintenance of unit equipment and supplies.
* Is accountable for all transmitters and cables in use each shift.
* Cleans between patients. Troubleshoots and replaces defective equipment.
* Reports failures to Biomed. Gives report to oncoming shift.
* Orients and mentors new team members. Prioritizes work assignments and adjusts priorities based on changing situations.

The ideal Monitor Technician candidate should posses the following minimal qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience Preferred. Successful completion of Monitor Tech Course prior to completion of orientation. Knowledge of medical terminology. Successful completion of annual proficiency test. Current American Heart Association CPR Certification is preferred.
