Southeast Georgia Health System has an opportunity for a Unit Coordinator to join our Flex team!

Summary: Performs reception and clerical duties in a patient care unit. Responsible for completing order entry process for diagnostic and therapeutic services. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, and adhere to all state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission requirements, and national patient safety standards

* Acts as receptionist. Greets, smiles, and communicates effectively with all persons coming to the unit, answers inquiries, directs and assists all visitors, staff and physicians.
* Assists with the delivery of flowers, gifts, and mail for patients.
* Promptly answers telephone, intercom, and/or paging systems using proper telephone etiquette.
* Communicates messages and forwards calls in a timely manner. Maintains proficiency in all available computer system applications.
* Understands and applies "downtime" procedures in a timely manner.
* Keeps medical records in proper order and thins records as needed following established procedures.
* Maintains patient's pending transfer or discharge status in computer.
* Clocks patients out of computer when discharged in a timely manner.
* Requisitions supplies and equipment and assists in care and maintenance.
* Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work area for the health care providers.
* Coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.
* Orients and mentors new team members.

The ideal Unit Coordinator should posses the following minimal qualifications:

* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
* One year of physician office duties in a health care setting, or currently in school for allied health degree preferred.
* NAHUC Certification preferred. Clerical and computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology.
* Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
* Current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
