Southeast Georgia Health System has an opportunity for a Cardiovascular Diagnostic Nurse to join our Cardiopulmonary Cath Lab team!

Summary: Provides direct nursing care to the patient and provides assistance to the Cardiologist during all phases of cardiac catheterization. Performs a variety of technical and administrative duties that relate to the Cardiac Cath Lab. Works primarily with adult and geriatric patient populations. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, and adhere to all state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission requirements, and national patient safety standards.

The Cardiovascular Diagnostic Nurse performs the following essential responsibilities:

* Effectively performs circulator, scrub and recorder duties during procedures.
* Calibrates equipment as needed.
* Performs and documents a nursing assessment to identify and prioritize patient’s needs, with development of a plan of care. Evaluates, reassesses and documents nursing interventions, based on interdisciplinary plan of care making revisions as appropriate.
* Accurately and consistently follows established guidelines for Moderate Sedation, practices Universal Precautions and follows all infection control policies.
* Demonstrates accountability for administration, observation, charting and reporting side effects of drugs, intravenous procedures and other diagnostic and therapeutic measures.
* Observes closely and communicates immediately information (arrhythmias, change in pressures, pain or mental state) to catheterizing physician before, during and after a procedure.
* Accurately maintains department records and patient logs, and enters patient charges for procedures.
* Responsible for assisting in the orientation and preceptorship of students and new staff to the role of an RN within the unit.

The ideal Cardiovascular Diagnostic Nurse candidate should possess the following minimal qualifications:

* Graduate of a Diploma or Associate School of Nursing, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification (RCIS) or exam taken within two years and obtained within three years of employment.
* Minimum of two (2) years ICU or Cath Lab experience.
* Current RN license to practice in the State of Georgia.
* Must have ICU nursing skills, the American Heart Association ACLS Certification, and IV Conscious Sedation competencies.
* Assumes responsibility for professional growth and development by learning hemodynamic monitoring, catheterization techniques, radiological views, attending educational programs and seminars and reading current literature.
* Demonstrates discretion and sound judgment and awareness of budgetary responsibilities. Exhibits outstanding guest relations skills at all times.
