Southeast Georgia Health System has an opportunity for an Activity Assistant to join our Senior Care Center - Brunswick team!

Summary: Assists the Activity Specialist with daily resident activity programs to meet resident needs and regulatory compliance. Participates in the interdisciplinary care planning process using the process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, and adhere to all state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission requirements, and national patient safety standards.

* Effectively plans, fulfills and documents assigned activities for both individual and group activities. Executes indoor and outdoor activities using knowledge, skills, judgment and decision making skills for the specific activity. Leads group activities with minimal supervision. Responsible for resident safety.
* Plans and fulfills room visits with residents on a one to one basis for residents incapable of leaving their room. Effectively provides a friendly visitor, sensory stimulation, reality orientation, individual instruction on specific leisure pursuits and a means of meeting individual needs as outlined in each resident’s Activities Plan of Care.
* Reports to the Activities Specialist on residents’ responses and/or progress to specific approaches utilized and maintains appropriate documentation. Follows all policies and procedures. Reports needs to Activities Specialist.
* Returns areas used for activities back to original condition at the conclusion of each activity; removes litter, returns equipment, and assists with transporting residents back to their room or requested destination. Supervises barber and beauty shop appointments.
* Attends continuing education seminars and meetings as directed. Supervises volunteers. Participates or conducts resident council meetings as assigned. Arrives to work clean, neat and appropriate. Reports to work as scheduled.
* Develops and evaluates activity plan of care for assigned residents. Makes revisions to plan of care to meet regulatory standards.
* Provides accurate documentation and maintains adequate supplies to implement activities and meet compliance with regulatory standards. Utilizes resident care supplies/equipment in a fiscally responsible manner.

The ideal Activity Assistant should possess the following minimal qualifications:

* High School diploma or equivalent
* Activities Directors Certification preferred.
* Basic understanding of the needs of the elderly and an empathetic approach to illness.
* Basic knowledge of a variety of activities.
* Exhibit ability to lead and to give instructions and redirect others.
* Demonstrates professional growth and development. Uses good judgment. Exhibits positive interpersonal skills.
